 Course Description
 
本課程旨在引導學生閱讀科幻文學，從中思考人性，並使學生具備對科技文化的分析與批判能力。本課程除以概論式介紹不同類別之科幻小說，精讀文本亦涵蓋四大主題(普羅米修斯的創造、時間旅行、反烏托邦世界及電腦叛客)，分別以Frankenstein, The Time Machine, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep,以及Little Brother四部小說作為代表。課程以教師課堂授課與修課成員分別就不同主題於課堂作口頭報告之方式進行。修課成員應於期末繳交與本課程相關之書面報告。
This course provides an overview of the genre of science fictions with a view to equipping students with critical ability to observe and analyze the technological cultures and their impact on human lives. To help students grasp the genre as comprehensive as possible, our selected readings fall into the following four categories of themes: the theme on the Prometheus creation, the theme on time travel, the theme on the dystopian world and the theme on the cyberpunk, each represented by the following novels Frankenstein, The Time Machine, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and Little Brother respectively. Aside from receiving lectures from the teacher, students are also expected to make oral reports on given topics in classes during the semester. Each student is expected to turn in a term paper on related issues at the end of the semester.

1. 學生請假悉依本校「學則」及「學生請假辦法」規定辦理。
2. 依本校「學則」第33條，曠課一小時，以缺課二小時論。學生某一科目之缺課總時數達該科全學期授課時數三分之一，經該科教師扣考後，即不准參加該科目之學期各項學習成績考試或評量。
