 Course Description
 
閱讀就是一種發現的過程。本課程設計啟發學生，如何有效閱讀，強調分析與主題閱讀的技巧。本課教材:《如何閱讀一本書》。課程設計將循序將閱讀分四種層次：第一層：基礎閱讀(elementary reading)。 第二層：檢視閱讀(inspectional reading) 是系統化的略讀。 第三層：分析閱讀(analytical reading) 是詳讀主要教導透視、判斷、評價與輔助閱讀的技巧。 第四層：主題閱讀(syntopical reading) 是觸類旁通的比較閱讀， 延伸出自己的獨特觀點。本課還有教導實用性的書、想像文學、戲劇與詩、歷史、科學與數學、哲學及社會科學等主題書的方法。閱讀就是學習閱讀的藝術， 包含下列學習技巧: 敏銳的觀察, 靈敏可靠的記憶、想像、分析、思考，閱讀不只是能增長知識，還能擴大對這世界的觀點。
This course aims to introduce and elucidate the various levels of reading and how to achieve them—from elementary reading, through systematic skimming and inspectional reading, to speed reading. By studying this textbook: How to read a book, students will learn when and how to “judge a book by its cover,” and also how to X-ray it, read critically, and extract the author’s message from the text. Students will also learn the different techniques that work best for reading particular genres, such as practical books, imaginative literature, plays, poetry, history, science and mathematics, philosophy and social science works.
