文學理論的原則與方法已經被應用在文化研究的相關領域中，對所有的文本來進行詮釋，文學理論為一種用於詮釋的普遍理論。本課程目的在引導英外文研究所同學研讀熟悉結構主義、女性主義、馬克斯主義、解構主義、後結構主義、後殖民主義等西洋現代文學理論，讓同學除了熟悉文學、語文等專業學科知識外，更能接觸瞭解不同的西方文化思考模式與詮釋策略，希暨提供各類文學理論的面向學習, 以促進學生批判思考和文學批評能力。
The objective of this course will be an in-depth study of two subjects: contemporary literary theory and cultural studies. Selected texts will be drawn from these two fields for discussion and class presentation. This class aims at concentrating on literary theory which ranges from structuralism and post-structuralism all through to postmodernism and post-colonialism. The theories of psychological criticism, Marxist criticism, feminist criticism, and deconstruction would be mainly studied and explored.
Some well-known texts of cultural studies would be mainly explored to acquaint students with theoretical discourses of different thinking and perspectives. This course aims to help graduate students develop in-depth understanding of literary theories.

學生請假規則
|
1. 學生請假悉依本校「學則」及「學生請假辦法」規定辦理。
2. 依本校「學則」第33條，曠課一小時，以缺課二小時論。學生某一科目之缺課總時數達該科全學期授課時數三分之一，經該科教師扣考後，即不准參加該科目之學期各項學習成績考試或評量。
