Course Description
 
本課程介紹新興英文的文學,特別是具有亞洲、非洲與加勒比海國家背景的作家,探究他們自身與作品的歷史地理情境,以及各種認同身份交織產生的問題。本課程將檢視二十世紀晚期以及二十一世紀初殖民、後殖民與全球化脈絡下的社會情境,以及其中孕育的文學與文化現象。本課程特別討論種族與族裔、階級、全球與在地、離散與認同、宗教與共群、性與性別、英語霸權、帝國主義與殖民主義等子議題。
This course introduces new English literatures, especially those written by authors with Asian, African or Caribbean backgrounds, and investigates the identity politics forged in different geo-historical contexts. This course will examine the social context in the late 20th century and early 21th century regarding to colonialism, postcolonialism and globalization, as well as related literary and cultural phenomena. Sub-issues such as race and ethnicity, class, the global and local, diaspora and identity, religion and community, sex and gender, English hegemony, imperialism and colonialism will also be included.
