Course Description
 
今電影產業發達，改編中外知名文學作品拍成電影的情況屢見不鮮，電影往往成為大眾接觸文學的主要管道。文學和電影為兩種不同媒介，表述故事的手法有差異之處，各擅勝場。本課程將以觀賞由文學(英語作品為主)改編的電影，以及閱讀其原著小說兩種方式，了解電影與文學之妙。授課過程中，將介紹若干電影與文學敘事手法給學生，以便讓學生期末時，針對教師指定電影／文學進行分組口頭報告。透過課程，闡釋文學或電影具有社會關懷與社會批判的面向，並讓學生對影片的製作過程有基本的認識，進而應用至書寫影評之實作。
Nowadays it is common that literary works are adapted as films. Watching films has become the medium between people and literature. Films and literature are different medias in term of the way their stories are told. This course will offer an opportunity for students to understand the differences by reading literary works (predominately novels) and watching their cinematic versions. Social issues and criticism through literature or movies will be addressed. Also, based on the knowledge learned at class, students will be encouraged to practice writing film reviews.
