Course Description

學習佛教徒於寺院殿堂之基本禮儀，並藉由實際參與，深化佛教行持之素養；介紹佛教共住生活的源流與意義、書院生活的特色，並藉由探討中國傳統叢林的典座、行堂、香燈、出坡作務等所依據的佛法思想和歷史源流，瞭解日常作務與修行之間的關係，以運用在行門實踐當中，培養學生之宗教情操、與人相處之溝通協調能力，增進其對佛教生活行儀的認知，養成服務利他之性格，且健全品格。Learning the fundamental etiquette of Buddhist practitioners in temple halls and the chanting names of Buddhas, and through active participation, deepening one's cultivation in Buddhist practice. Introduce the origins and significance of the Buddhist concept of "communal living" and the characteristics of life in Buddhist academy. By exploring the Buddhist principles and historical roots underlying the traditional practices in Chinese monasteries—such as the duties of the temple chef (典座), meal service (行堂), shrine attendant (香燈), and chorework (出坡)—students will gain an understanding of the relationship between daily tasks and spiritual practice. This knowledge will be applied in teaching in practice (行門), fostering students' religious spirit, communication, and coordination skills in interpersonal interactions. Additionally, it will enhance their understanding of Buddhist lifestyle and etiquette, cultivating a character rooted in benefiting others (利他) and fostering moral integrity.

Course Objectives

1	瞭解佛教「六和敬」的意義與書院生活的關係，培養溝通協調的能力，促進人我相處和諧無諍。 Understand the meaning of the Buddhist “Six Points of Reverent Harmony” and its relationship with Buddhist academy life, cultivate communication and coordination skills, and promote harmonious and conflict-free interactions with others.
2	認識佛教早晚課、日常修持的法門及其基本含義。 Understand the morning and evening Buddhist practices, daily cultivation methods, and their basic meanings.
3	瞭解佛門典座的思想理念，並能熟悉典座的工作。 Understand the philosophical concepts of the Buddhist temple chef and become familiar with the duties of a temple chef.
4	瞭解佛門過堂用餐的禮儀、行堂的方式及相關的思想理念，並能熟悉行堂的工作。 Understand the etiquette of formal Buddhist meal, the methods of meal service, and the related philosophical concepts, and become familiar with the duties of meal service.
5	瞭解漢傳佛教寺院的運作方式及其所依據的佛法觀念。 Understand the operational structure of Han Chinese Buddhist monasteries and the Buddhist concepts they are based on.

學生請假規則

1. 學生請假悉依本校「學則」及「學生請假辦法」規定辦理。
2. 依本校「學則」第33條，曠課一小時，以缺課二小時論。學生某一科目之缺課總時數達該科全學期授課時數三分之一，經該科教師扣考後，即不准參加該科目之學期各項學習成績考試或評量。
