Course Description
 
佛教自二千六百年前起源於印度，至今已傳遍五大洲，成為世界性的宗教。此間，七眾弟子僧俗男女典範性人物輩出，本課程擬從佛教母胎印度及此後南北傳大小乘佛教以至世界性弘傳發展歷史中，選擇數位具重要性或影響力的佛門人物加以介紹，以增加學生基本知識的含量，認識其感人的事跡或度人濟世之行誼，理解佛門聖賢努力成功的關鍵，資以做為未來人生的學習典範。

Buddhism originated in India 2,600 years ago and has since spread across the five continents, becoming a global religion. Throughout this period, exemplary figures among the seven groups of disciples, both monastic and lay, male and female, have emerged. This course aims to introduce several significant or influential figures from the historical development of Buddhism, starting from its origin in India, through the subsequent spread of both Theravāda and Mahāyāna Buddhism in the southern and northern traditions, to its global dissemination. By doing so, the course intends to enhance students' foundational knowledge, allowing them to learn about these inspiring figures, their compassionate acts, and their key contributions to the success of Buddhism. These examples will serve as role models for students to emulate in their own lives.

 1. 學生請假悉依本校「學則」及「學生請假辦法」規定辦理。
2. 依本校「學則」第33條，曠課一小時，以缺課二小時論。學生某一科目之缺課總時數達該科全學期授課時數三分之一，經該科教師扣考後，即不准參加該科目之學期各項學習成績考試或評量。
