Course Description
 
本課程探討漢傳佛教寺院的歷史發展、建築空間、日常生活、儀式實踐、日常生活與文化意涵。課程將從歷史、文獻與田野調查等角度切入，深入了解寺院如何作為宗教實踐、社會互動與文化傳承的重要場域。透過歷代寺院資料如寺志、山志、清規、僧傳等與當代僧團的田野調察，呈現教義、空間與社會之間的交織關係。
This course explores the development, architecture, rituals, daily life, and cultural significance of Chinese Buddhist monasteries. Through historical, textual, and ethnographic perspectives, students will examine how temples function as centers of religious practice, social engagement, and cultural transmission. Case studies from various dynasties drawn from temple or mountain gazetteers, monastic codes, hagiographies, and ethnographical reports of contemporary monastic communities will be used to illustrate the dynamic interplay between doctrine, space, and society.
