Course Description
 
《法華經》是大乘佛教一部重要經典之一，其思想無論在教義或信仰上，深遠地影響東亞佛教。法華思想表展現大乘佛教對於宗教實踐的重要性。本課主要探討每一品的中心主旨思想。藉由每一品，了解大乘佛教與其宗教實踐和意義。藉由法華思想所闡述的「會三歸一」過程中，探討佛教如何透過權教的方便法門，有效的引導眾生，達到最終一乘實教。法華思想的方便權教，表現佛教慈悲利他的宗教實踐觀。
The Lotus Sutra is one of the important scriptures of Mahāyāna Buddhism, and its thought has profoundly influenced East Asian Buddhism in both doctrine and faith. The thought of the Lotus Sutra demonstrates the importance and significance of religious practice of Mahāyāna Buddhism. This course mainly explores the central themes of each chapter of the sutra. Through each chapter, students will understand the religious practice and significance of Mahāyāna Buddhism. By examining the process of ‘uniting the three vehicles into one’ as expounded in the thought of the Lotus Sutra, the course explores how Buddhism effectively guides sentient beings to the ultimate one-vehicle true teaching through the expedient means of provisional teachings. The expedient provisional teachings of the thought of the Lotus Sutra reflect the Buddhist view of compassionate and altruistic religious practice.
