Course Description
 
依據《法華經》所發展的天台宗，讓佛教在中國發展出獨特的漢傳佛教思想。本課以歷史為主，主要介紹中國天台宗派與其思想在唐朝的發展。探討天台宗在唐朝與政治和其他佛教宗派之間的互動關係，依照時間順序，分為中國天台宗的醞釀期、天台宗的形成與發展、與天台宗在東亞(日本)佛教的發展。

1以天台宗為例，學生得以了解佛教(天台宗)與中國社會之間的互動。
2從歷史觀點，學生可以了解到中國社會(政治與儒道兩教)對天台思想的影響。
3從思想教義上，天台祖師們的著作，透露出當下佛教思想的發展與佛教對中國社會的回應。
4透過一些天台主要思想與傳播，了解漢傳佛教對東亞(日本)佛教的影響。
5藉由天台祖師的背景，了解天台思想的形成。
