Course Description

The course primarily intends to discuss and answer questions such as “What does Huayan thought華嚴思想 mean?”, “How is Huayan thought defined?” Scholarly research methods on Huayan study will be introduced. In addition, we will discuss main ideas of Huayan thoughts through reading of some primary texts in Chinese. In particular, the course will focus on thoughts of Huayan Buddhism along with the history of Huayan school of Chinese Buddhism.
