Course Description
 
本課程以傳授語言學、文獻學方面的基本知識為重點，提供紮實的基礎，方便學生對佛典譯本進行學術研究。學生除具備華文閱讀、寫作能力外，對至少一種佛學領域中必備的研究語言（如英語或日語）必能操作自如。
This course provides the students with the general knowledge, linguistic and philological, needed to engage in the meaningful study of translated Buddhist texts. It does not require familiarity with languages other than the medium of instruction (Chinese) and secondary languages understood to be indispensible for serious academic research on an advanced level.

Course Objectives

 幫助學生熟悉語音的系統概念以及文字的研究方法 introducing the systematic study of the sounds of language and writing systems
 提高學生語彙學、語法學方面的知識 familiarizing the students with research into lexicology and grammar
 幫助學生接觸不同文學理論與文學研究方法 providing an overview of literary concepts and literary studies with their different approaches

學生請假規則

 1. 學生請假悉依本校「學則」及「學生請假辦法」規定辦理。
2. 依本校「學則」第33條，曠課一小時，以缺課二小時論。學生某一科目之缺課總時數達該科全學期授課時數三分之一，經該科教師扣考後，即不准參加該科目之學期各項學習成績考試或評量。
