Course Description
 
「英國文學概論」課程旨在提供學生英國文學史的發展與其文化演進，作概觀介紹，做有系統的主題文學、語言分析，處理英國文學史上的各個主要文類，以及培養思辯文學作品的社會、宗教等文化背景的交互影響， 課堂選文擇要進行仔細探究。課程也著重培養學生閱讀、賞析文學作品的能力，加強其運用英語文的能力。學生從此課程學習實用的英語文，也了解英語文演進的脈絡，以及文化與文學的背景。
This course aims at helping students survey the major English works from the Old English Period, the Renaissance to the Nineteenth Century and then get a panoramic view of how the varied literary trends were developed and influenced by the socio-political contexts. The historical and cultural background of literature will be explored in this class to examine the significances of individual authors responding to the specific socio-cultural contexts he/she addresses. This course will enhance students’ abilities of examining and appreciating literary texts.
