Course Description
 
本課程設計精選文學的散文名著導讀，培養學生獨立閱讀，並增進賞析現代散文佳作之能力，以啟發性、自主性、獨立思考性為訓練主軸。除了賞析文字之美，進而提昇寫作技巧，並探究作家其當代的歷史、文化及社會背景梗概。
This course aims to familiarize students with prose writings by several key contemporary prose writers. Some prose-writing models are selected to encourage students to improve their reading and writing appreciation with some of the best examples of English prose in literature. Students would learn how to read and recognize in several rhetorical modes (definition, narration, comparison/contrast, classification/division, cause and effect, and argument/persuasion). This course intends to promote the skills of reading, enabling students to think more clearly and logically in their prose readings.
