Course Description
 
從「敘述統計」開始，教授同學整理數據資料的方法，計算平均量數與變異量數。再者，傳授機率、常態分配，以及抽樣理論與方法，從此導入推估等概念，而進入「推論統計」範疇，使同學更熟悉統計方法的實務運用。
接續由「推論統計」出發，探討t檢定、變異數分析、卡方檢定、相關、迴歸等統計方法。並經由研讀量化論文，使修課學生更熟悉統計方法的實務運用。
舉凡社會學、人口學、經濟學、心理學、政治學與教育學，都離不開統計。本課程的授課重點不僅在於統計原理，更著重適度地使用統計方法，學生具備統計能力之後，能夠分析社會現象，並可從事市場調查或民意調查之行業。
The course commences with an introduction to " Descriptive Statistics," wherein students are instructed in the organization of data and the calculation of mean and variance. Subsequently, students are presented with the fundamental concepts of probability, normal distribution, and sampling theory and methodology. This leads to the concepts of estimation and subsequently to the domain of "Inferential Statistics," thereby fostering a deeper familiarity with the practical applications of statistical methods.
In the subsequent module, "Inferential Statistics," students will investigate a range of statistical techniques, including the t-test, analysis of variance, chi-square test, correlation, regression, and others. Through the analysis of quantitative research papers, students will gain a deeper understanding of the practical applications of these statistical methods.
The field of statistics is employed in a multitude of disciplines, including sociology, demography, economics, psychology, political science, and education. This course places equal emphasis on both the theoretical principles of statistics and the practical applications of statistical methods. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped with the analytical skills necessary to examine social phenomena and engage in market research or public opinion surveys.
