Course Description
 
透過選讀古典社會學文獻，對一些重要的概念與議題及其間的關連做較深入的瞭解。希望能透過課前個人的閱讀及課堂上的小組討論，培養社會學的想像、分析能力與批判性思維。本課程在於訓練同學對於社會學原典的閱讀能力，希望透過課程的閱讀與討論過程來提高同學的閱讀興趣，以及對於社會學經典著作的思考能力與論述能力。本學期的課程安排閱讀法國年鑑學派第二代大師Fernand Braudel《15-18世紀的物質文明、經濟與資本主義》的三卷書。
Through selected readings of classical sociological literature, this course aims to deepen students’ understanding of key concepts, issues, and the connections between them. By engaging in individual reading before class and participating in group discussions during class, students are encouraged to develop sociological imagination, analytical skills, and critical thinking.
The course is designed to train students in reading original sociological texts, with the goal of enhancing their interest in reading, as well as their ability to reflect on and articulate ideas about classical sociological works. This semester, the course will focus on reading all three volumes of Civilization and Capitalism, 15th–18th Century by Fernand Braudel, a second-generation master of the French Annales School.
