Course Description

1967年由印尼、泰國、馬來西亞、菲律賓與新加坡等5國於曼谷成立東南亞國家協會(Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN)，其後在柬埔寨於1999年加入之後，東協正式成為東南亞十個國家皆包括在內的區域性組織。東協成立之初以政治議題為主要關注，但在冷戰結束之後，經濟合作成為東協重要議題。近幾年來，隨著美國重返亞洲的政策，東南亞成為美、中、日等區域大國亟欲拉攏的對象。本課程主要即介紹東南亞11國（包含東帝汶）的政府與政治基本概念，希望可以幫助同學們了解東南亞最新的政治情勢與發展。

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established in Bangkok in 1967 by five countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. Later, after Cambodia joined in 1999, ASEAN officially became the ten Southeast Asian countries. regional organizations included. When ASEAN was first established, political issues were its main concern. However, after the end of the Cold War, economic cooperation became an important issue for ASEAN. In recent years, with the United States' policy of returning to Asia, Southeast Asia has become an urgent target for regional powers such as the United States, China, and Japan to win over. This course mainly introduces the basic concepts of government and politics in 11 Southeast Asian countries (including East Timor). It is hoped that it can help students understand the latest political situation and development in Southeast Asia.
