Course Description |
| |
Traditionally, the focus has been on a linear production and consumption model, where raw materials are extracted from the environment, processed and manufactured into products, sold or used, and then discarded. This process consumes large amounts of resources and generates significant waste. The key difference between a circular economy and a linear economy lies in establishing an economic development model that ensures the continuous circulation and utilization of materials and resources. This approach creates a cycle of "resources, products, and regenerated resources," reducing waste generation and even achieving the ideal state of net-zero emissions.
The primary goal of this course is to help students understand the scope and objectives of the circular economy, familiarize themselves with its fundamental concepts, and explore practical development issues. Furthermore, as the impact of extreme global climate events intensifies, sustainable development has become the primary goal of global economic transformation. The circular economy is no longer limited to the traditional manufacturing industry; the financial services sector is also increasingly emphasizing sustainable business development. Therefore, this course will incorporate topics on sustainable finance, introducing how the financial market's influence can drive investment and industries toward a virtuous cycle of sustainable development.
Additionally, this course will include professional industry lectures and site visits to help students gain practical insights into sustainable finance practices within the financial sector. The ultimate aim is to equip students with foundational knowledge and professional competencies related to the circular economy and sustainable finance.
